Chapter 1 — The Family

How this started

Tom Fox is a third-generation cabinet maker. His grandfather built. His father built. By the time Tom was old enough to hold a tool, the direction was already clear.

Paul Violo came in from electrical. John Shannon came in with the business instincts to pull it all together. Three people with complementary skills and the same idea of what a shop should look like.

Fox Custom Woodworks opened in Erin, Ontario in 2008, and the families have grown up alongside the business ever since.

Chapter 2 — The Craft

Built by hand. No shortcuts.

Every cabinet that leaves this shop is built by hand. Not assembled from flat-pack parts. Skilled hands on real material, one project at a time.

We build in wood veneer, solid wood, laminate, MDF, and thermofoil — whatever the project calls for. The material changes. The standard doesn't.

Tom is a third-generation craftsman — his grandfather built, his father built, and by the time he was old enough to hold a tool, the direction was already clear. He runs the shop floor with a confidence that only comes from decades of doing the work himself.

Paul Violo — Owner and Treasurer, Fox Custom Woodworks

Paul came to Fox from a career in electrical — he holds an interprovincial licence and spent years on job sites where precision isn't optional. He handles quoting, client relationships, and timelines, and is usually the first person a client talks to.

John Shannon — Owner and Secretary, Fox Custom Woodworks

John Shannon Owner / Secretary

John is the steady hand that keeps everything moving, especially when a deadline is close and the pressure is up. Whether it's a scheduling conflict or a last-minute site issue, he's usually the first call and almost always has an answer.

Josh Fox Shop

Josh joined the shop in 2022 with a head start — a childhood spent watching one of the best builders in the region do the work every day. He's settled in with the same steady hands and high standards you'd expect.

Kaitlyn Lister — Design and 3D Drawings, Fox Custom Woodworks

Kaitlyn Lister Design & 3D Drawings

Kaitlyn holds a Bachelor of Animation and produces the full 3D drawings every client approves before anything reaches the shop floor. Her work means no surprises when the cabinets arrive.

Cathrine Fox Shop

Cathrine has a background in visual arts and a sharp instinct for how colour and texture work together. She handles colour selection and finishing direction — the final step before anything leaves the shop.

Chris Denomme The Installer

Chris brings years of installation experience to every job site, with the technical skill and problem-solving instincts that the final stage of a project demands. On-site, start to finish.
